Adoptive Parent Spotlight – Nevada
Matt and Lisa’s Journey with Baby Sophia

📍 Reno, Nevada
Sharing our Adoptive Parent Spotlight: When birth mother Sophia (pseudonym) made the selfless decision to place her baby for adoption, she wanted to ensure her child would never enter foster care. Facing challenges related to substance use, she selected Matt and Lisa (pseudonyms) to adopt her baby, drawn to their warmth, compassion, and unwavering commitment.
Matt and Lisa traveled to Reno and stayed by the baby’s side for four weeks in the NICU following her birth. The baby, born with Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS), received round-the-clock love and care from both the NICU staff and her new adoptive parents.
Despite the prenatal drug exposure, Matt and Lisa never hesitated. They were well-informed, prepared, and fully dedicated to providing the care their child needed. Their love extended to the birth mother as well, whom they honored with empathy and respect throughout the process.
The placement occurred in November, and the family spent Thanksgiving in the hospital, grateful, hopeful, and surrounded by a supportive medical team. Today, their baby girl is thriving and developmentally on target.
Matt and Lisa chose Adoption Choices of Nevada because of the transparency and thorough medical information provided before the match. Knowing what to expect helped them feel confident and prepared every step of the way.
“We always felt informed and supported during this journey.”
