Adoptive Parent Spotlight – Nevada C and J’s Journey to Fatherhood​

C and J, a same-sex couple from Nevada, always dreamed of becoming parents. As two gay men, they initially saw fatherhood as a distant dream—something beautiful, yet abstract. After getting married, they poured their love into rescuing dogs, traveling, and enjoying time with their close-knit circle of friends and family. But when a friend shared a positive experience adopting through Adoption Choices of Nevada, something shifted.

That story planted a seed of hope. Could adoption actually be their path to parenthood?

Despite knowing the process could be challenging and filled with unknowns, C and J chose to move forward with open hearts and realistic expectations. They completed their home study and were prepared for a long wait. But just six months after joining the Adoption Choices program, they received the life-changing news—they had been chosen by an expectant mother who was just six weeks from her due date.

The journey quickly became real. With guidance from their caseworker, they formed a connection with their son’s birth mother. “Our Adoption Choices caseworker encouraged us and made our dreams come true,” they shared. Their son Aidan was born in 2021 in Las Vegas, and they met him just hours after his birth.

Now three years old, Aidan is a joyful, energetic, and hilarious little boy. Parenting him has transformed their lives in the most extraordinary ways.

“We feel beyond lucky to have found him in this world,” they said. “And having found him through adoption, as a gay couple, makes parenting even more amazing.”
