While the transition to meeting these prospective families virtually makes the process look a little different, the intended outcome remains the same. We strive to bring you amazing possible families for your baby, and this is still achievable even during quarantine!
At this step in your plan, you’ll have the opportunity to meet with waiting families virtually while still being able to feel that one-on-one connection with them. This will give you the same feeling of an in person home visit without the anxiety that comes along with these kinds of meetings during this time. Your caseworker will help to walk you through the steps to prepare for this meeting through the virtual mediums available to us. One of the best ways to prepare for this meeting is to prepare talking points or questions that you may have for prospective families.

The Hospital Experience
Another one of the biggest aspects of adoption in Las Vegas during quarantine that has changed is the hospital experience. It is no longer as simple as it used to be to have your chosen adoptive family there when your baby is born. Unfortunately, due to safety precautions, Las Vegas hospitals are limiting the number of visitors in delivery rooms to one person. Many are not allowing families to wait in the waiting rooms in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19. While it may seem scary to not know whether or not your baby’s adoptive family or your own family will be able to attend the birth, keep in mind that this is all being done to protect you and your baby.
A second shift in the hospital process is that you may be asked to wear a mask while on hospital grounds. These rules vary by hospital, so it is important to work out the details of this with your chosen facility. However, it is always best to be prepared. At a time like this, it could never hurt to pack a few extra masks in your hospital bag in order to give you as much control over the situation as possible. While everything else feels out of control, these preparations can put some of the power back in your hands.
