How to Make a Vegas Adoption Plan

How to Make a Las Vegas Adoption Plan

The foundation of each adoption is built through an adoption plan. When you face unplanned pregnancy and choose adoption, you will work with your birth mother counselor to create this plan. If you live in Las Vegas and want to start your adoption plan, here are the steps you’ll need to take. When you partner with an agency like Adoption Choices of Nevada, your counselor will take you through these steps. They will clear up any confusion and help make this process as smooth as possible.

Choosing the Type of Adoption

The first step in any adoption plan is choosing the type of adoption. There are three types for birth mothers to choose from. The first is open adoption, where birth mothers may maintain communication with their child after their placement. Additionally, many birth mothers may visit their child in person.

The second type of adoption is a semi-open adoption. In this type, you will be able to communicate with your child, but in-person visits are less common. You can still write letters and emails to your child and talk on the phone. In both a semi-open and open adoption, you will be able to choose the adoptive family for your child.

The final type of adoption is a closed adoption. In a closed adoption, you won’t be able to visit your child at all or maintain any communication with them. Additionally, you won’t be able to choose your child’s adoptive parents.

Choosing the Adoptive Parents

If you choose to pursue an open or semi-open adoption, choosing the adoptive parents will be your next step. Your counselor will provide you with the profiles of a few different families to choose from. In this step, you may consider what type of family you want your child to grow up in. You can consider location, religion, race, etc.

Finalizing Birth Details

This final step will determine essential details about the day of your child’s birth. You will decide which hospital you will give birth in and who will be present during delivery. Additionally, you can figure out what type of birth you want to have. Your counselor can provide you with transportation and answer any other questions you have related to adoption.
